Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Youth Survey

The Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Coalition for Report Cards on the Well-Being of Children is working with the Upper Grand District School Board, the Wellington Catholic District School Board and Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health to implement the WDG Youth Survey.

The WDG Youth Survey is a voluntary, web-based survey that will be completed during school hours in Grade 7 and Grade 10 classrooms. The survey asks questions about students’ physical activity, eating habits, time spent with family and friends, sense of safety, and school involvement.

There will be two phases of survey implementation. Phase 1 (October-November 2011): First semester Grade 10 Civics classes; Phase 2 (March-April 2011): Second semester Grade 10 Civics classes and all grade 7 students. Each school will choose dates during these timeframes that is most convenient to implement the survey.

Schools will distribute an information letter to parents of Grade 7 and 10 students prior to implementing the survey at the school. Additional information about the survey, including a copy of the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Youth Survey, can be downloaded by following the links provide below.

The survey will provide schools, school boards, and local service provider agencies with an understanding of students’ learning, health and development. This information can be used to improve programs and resources to ensure all youth are given the opportunity to succeed in school and beyond.
